The used Cisco 7206VXR is a fast, single-processor router that has exceptional performance for a minimal price. You have a choice of two chassis,

1) Cisco 7204VXR’s four horizontal port adaptor slots, and

2) Cisco 7206VXR’s six horizontal port adaptor slots. Each chassis comes with 2 Mpps routing performance and integrated multi-service interchange (MIX) functionality.

The Cisco 7200 series has easy deployment and high performance. It supports multi-protocol, multimedia routing and bridging, along with a variety of protocols and port adapter combinations. Cisco’s 7206VXR supports multiple high-bandwidth port adapters. The 6-slot chassis (six network interface port adapter slots) has one I/O controller slot for a network processing engine.

 

The 7200 series is ideal for WAN (Wide Area Network) integration for the Service Provider (small POP) or enterprise edges, an enterprise type WAN gateway, a really high-end managed CPE (Customer Provided Equipment) - or it can be used as a small core-type router. This 7206 or the Cisco 7204 platform supports sites that require IBM data center connectivity along multi-service voice functions, video services, and data packet transfer.

 

During installation, if you have problems with the I/O controller lowest slot in the 7206VXR router, remove the port adapters and reinstall them. Install the I/O controller slots first (before populating the slots above them).
