Description: The used Marconi ASX4000M is a high-performance 40 Gbps multi-service
switch router was designed to meet the demanding needs of Post,
Telephone, Telegraph (PTT) agencies, local exchange carriers (LECs),
inter-exchange carriers (IXCs), and service providers as they build
or enhance their large enterprise networks. The ASX4000M supports a
wide range of interfaces ranging from DS-1/E1 to OC-48c/STM-16c. The
ASX4000M uses the ASX4000 card cage, fabrics, switch control
processors (SCPs), software, and port cards. The ASX4000M can re-use
all Series E and select Series D ASX/TNX network modules.
A used ASX4000M is ideal for use as an edge aggregation point for
low-speed multi-service connections, including ATM, Frame Relay, CEM,
and Ethernet. It can function as a mid-size core supporting
OC-3c/STM-1c (ATM and packet over SONET [POS]), OC-12c/STM-4c (ATM
and POS), and OC-48c/STM-16c (ATM and POS) interfaces. Additionally,
the ASX4000M is perfectly suited to deployment in large Enterprise
WANs. Any combination of service interfaces and higher-speed uplinks
can be supported.
The flexible and scalable architecture of the used ASX4000M enables
service providers to utilize the same platform for direct customer
traffic termination, aggregation of digital subscriber line access
multiplexer (DSLAM) and Frame Relay traffic, and core applications.
Marconi offers high-density interfaces, including both channelized
and unchannelized optical port cards, channelized electrical
interfaces, and discrete electrical interfaces. With the IP Routing
and Forwarding (IPR) port card, a ASX4000M can operate as an MPLS
gateway device, bridging the gap between the current multi-service
network and future IP/MPLS networks.
