AT&T Launches Managed Firewall Service for Today's Businesses
AT&T Inc.
announced an enhancement to their Managed Firewall
Portfolio with the release of a Premises Based Cisco ASA® Option.
It was developed for businesses of all sizes. The purpose of this
is to improve and protect business internet infrastructures.
"The service is available through the AT&T BusinessDirect® Web
portal, which provides a single point to manage the customer's
perimeter. The fully managed firewall service makes enforcement of
customer's security policy an inherent part of the network across
Intranet-, Extranet-, and Internet-based communications. The AT&T
Premises Based Cisco ASA® Firewall Option is available bundled with
AT&T's Managed Internet Service or as a stand alone service to use
on any internet service provider's connection" (News@Cisco).
AT&T's Managed Firewall Service has outbound connections by way
of the Cisco ASA Option. This is great for small businesses, because
now the cost for this feature is much lower and economically
attainable. Approximately 33% of small and medium-sized businesses
plan to implement this security software during 2007.
AT&T leads the way toward truly making the network the platform
for the way customer based businesses work and "enabling business
customers to stay focused on their core businesses by outsourcing
important but complex network capabilities."
Some of these new services include:
-
"Internet Protect: This service is designed to help
predict and profile identified malicious activities before they
occur, including such information as top 10 vulnerabilities,
recent patch releases and other need-to-know facts.
-
Intrusion Prevention: This service helps detect, contain
and neutralize known threats from hackers, viruses and worms
that could attack everything from servers to PDAs and reduce
uptime and damage valuable data.
-
Distributed Denial of Services: This service helps
provide customers with the necessary protection to help them
detect Internet attack traffic via their own edge-based
detection solutions" (News@Cisco).
To be honest, these excellent features are just about mandatory
for every business network enterprise. No doubt about it, the more
protection the better! Loss of critical business information can not
only cause a loss of customer good will and good faith towards your
organization, but corrupted databases or missing data is a threat to
your employees and customers and needs to be taken seriously.
