Cisco network routers use three layers: the core layer, the distribution layer,
and the access layer. The core layer (AKA backbone layer) transports data between networks. The core routers
are in the 7200 series or higher. The distribution layer provides differentiation between the static and dynamic
routing (and other policy-based functions). The access layer allows users to access their network or internetwork
on the access layer. The access layers are in the 2500/2600 series.
