Used Cisco Optical Networking Overview
Metro Core
The
Cisco ONS 15600
Multiservice Switching Platform (MSSP) allows service providers
to integrate metropolitan (metro) core and metro edge networks. They
provide 320 gigabits of switching, grooming, aggregation, and
bandwidth-management capacity in a single shelf. This platform
supports 32 OC-192/STM-64 (XFP) or 128 OC-48/STM-16, OC-12/STM-4,
OC-3/STM-1, or Gigabit Ethernet (SFP pluggable) optical interfaces
in a single shelf. This platform also offers any port (ASAP) service
cards and hold up to f pluggable I/O (ASAP 4-PIO or ASAP-1-PIO
modules. The platform combines the functions of multiple metro
systems, including SONET/JSDH multiplexers and digital cross-connect
network elements.
The
Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice
Provisioning Platform (MSPP) includes multiplexing, optical
networking, and switching functions. It integrates the functions of
traditional SONET or SDH network elements with next-generation SONET/SDH
transport and multi-service interfaces. The data services include:
private-line, switched: Layer 2-3, including 10/100BASE-T, Gigabit
Ethernet, and Resilent Packet Ring (RPR). The storage services
include: 1 Gbps, 2-Gbps Fibre channel: IBM Fibre connection (FICON).
Metro, Regional, and Long-Haul DWDM
The
Cisco ONS 15454
Multi-service Transport Platform (MSTP) delivers
wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) functions and reconfigures
optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) technology for metropolitan,
regional networks, and long-haul networks (from 32 to 80 wavelengths
per node). Data services include: private0line, switched, and
wavelength-based, including 10/100BASE-T, Gigabit Ethernet, 10
Gigabit Ethernet LAN physical layer, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet WAN
physical layer.
The
Cisco ONS
15216 Metropolitan/Regional DWDM System and Transmission Systems
support 32 iTU-grid wavelengths launched by the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP,
ONS, MSPP, ONS 15600, ONS 15310,
or alien wavelengths. It comes with
optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM), and Cisco ONS 15216 Erbium-Doped
Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) - 2 Optical amplification.
Metro Edge Access
The
Cisco ONS 15327 SONET
Multi-service Platform is an optical networking platform with
multiservices on demand for the metro access or customer location.
It provides optimized bandwidth management, high-speed IP-based data
services, rapid service provisioning, and multiple optical
interfaces. It has 3 rack units (3RU) modular design and aggregates
and switches TDM, 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, data,
and video services.
The
Cisco ONS 15310-MA
SONET Multi-service Platform transports up to 168 DS-1, 6 DS-3,
or 32 Layer 1 or Layer 2/3 Ethernet ports (10,100, and 1000 Mbps).
It supports DS-1, DS-3/EC1 Layer 1, and Layer 2/3 Ethernet, and
Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP)-enabled optics for OC-3, OC-12 and
OC-48. It comes in a compact 6-rack unit (6RU) form factor.
The
Cisco ONS 15310-CL
SONET Multi-service Platform is optimized for data and TDM
services over protected SONET transport for the customer location.
It comes with the following features: 1RU AC or dual-DC power
chassis, single system controller, timing, and synchronization, two
SFP optical ports for rings, 21 DS-1 and 3 DS-3 ports, one expansion
slot, and fan cooling.
The
Cisco ONS 15305 SDH
Multi-service Provisioning Platforms (MSPPs) are ultra-compact
integrated systems that extend next-generation optical networks
(access nodes or customer premises equipment (CPE). They come with
the following features: CPE platform, E1, E3, DS-3, 10/100BASE-T
Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet, and STM-1, STM-4, and STM-16.
