Product Description: Flexible ATM multiservice platform; highly scalable (from 1.2 to 45 Gbps of non-blocking throughput in single chassis, full-featured narrowband ATM for managed data, voice, and video services, circuit emulation for Private Line replacement, and highly scalable packet voice gateway providing VoIP and VoATM.

It enables service providers to offer high-margin voice and data services. The MGX 8850 universal chassis provides a unified ATM architecture that delivers differentiated services from circuit emulation to IP VPNs - all within a single chassis with 16 double-height slots.

Two different operation modes are offered: 1.2 Gbps configuration - Operates a stand alone switch for low density narrowband services, it includes a 1.2 Gbps switch card (PXM-1E) with PNNI routing. There are various PXM-1E integrated network interface cards such as the T1/E1, T3/E3 and OC-3/STM1; Supports up to 12 Double-Height / 24 single-Height User Service Modules to support FR, ATM, CES, IP, and Voice Services. It also offers 45 Gbps configuration - Serves as a broadband edge switch and includes the 45 Gbps switch card (PXM-45) and broadband ATM modules. The PXM-45 configuration also supports standards-based PNNI routing; supports up to 12 double-Height / 24 Single-Height User Service Modules to support FR. ATM, CES, IP, and Voice Services.
