Before you install the doors on the Cisco CRS-1 4-slot chassis, you must install the grille and install the doors when the chassis has been mounted into its rack.

Required Tools and Equipment: 1) ESD-preventive wrist strap, and 2) Left and right doors (Cisco part number: CRS-4-DOOR-KIT).

The CRS-1 (different from a GSR or a 7600), is built around a midplane. Each "line card" (Modular Services Card) has a part that goes into the back and a part that goes in the front, called Physical Layer Interface Module (PLIM). The MSCs are all the same and work with any kind of PLIM which are available for different kinds of transmission media.
