Description: The Cisco ASR 9010 Aggregation Services
Router is a 10-slot router with Dual AC, Dual Fan Trays,
Dual PEMs (either AC or DC) and one fan filter. The ASR
9010 has 2 slots vertically for 2 RSPs (for network redundancy)
and 8 line card slots. Network redundancy with loss of
downtime is a key function of the Cisco ASR 9010. With
Fabric redundancy, Fan redundancy, Feed redundancy, Power-supply
redundancy, RSP redundancy, and Software redundancy, service
providers should find a significant decrease in downtime
due to the design of redundancy on all major categories.
The Cisco ASR 9000 Series, which includes the Cisco ASR
9001, Cisco ASR 9006, the Cisco ASR 9010, and the 22-slot
Cisco ASR 9922 Aggregation Services Routers. Many Cisco
innovations have been introduced with this ASR series.
Cisco Systems is developing its service provider design
to provide abilities for the Next-Generation Internet,
which will be more mobile, more stunning visually, more
virtual with more virtual applications, and all at the
same time, be more simplified to operate.

The Cisco ASR 9010 design will permit service providers
and carriers to: profit from new aggregation services
to their end user customers, enhance network operation
and the efficiency of your network, decrease performance
costs and the complexity of network configurations, and
optimize end user customer experiences.
Serving as the foundation or baseline for next-generation
carrier Ethernet networks, the Cisco ASR 9010 provides
a steady 96 terabits (Tbps) per system. Also, this system
blends novel technologies such as the new Cisco Network
Virtualization (nV) technology, which intellectually incorporates
the aggregation, edge, and access points to make straightforward
performance and increase speed on IPv6 services. When
working cohesively, the Cisco ASR 9010 system can supply
the network bandwidth scale necessary to distributing
innovative mobile internet services while at the same
time reducing performance intricacy.
With elastic service delivery and operational system
durability, the Cisco ASR 9010 is a factual carrier-class
answer. This router highlights the modular, microkernel-based
Cisco IOS (Internetworking Operating Software) XR Software
operating system, with wide-ranging operating system redundancy,
and a full array of network durable features. Also, the
Cisco ASR9010 provides an exceptional service and application-level
brainpower that spotlights on enhanced video delivery
and mobile internet operations.

The Cisco ASR 9000 Series routers are packed with the
support of a full feature set of service foundation and
provisioning systems. The application systems are architecturally
designed to make things easier and augment the performance
and installation aspects of service-delivery networks.
Networks included are residential any-play services, including
cable, DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), Passive Optical
Network (PON), and Ethernet to the X (ETTx) services.
Also, other networks that would benefit from the Cisco
ASR 9010 are business Layer 2 VPN (Virtual Private Network)
and Layer 3 VPN services, mobile aggregation, and video
service-delivery networks.
The Cisco ASR 9010 router simplifies the mobile network
for network service providers, which at the end of the
day, gives service providers lowered costs, tailor their
network, and enhance the quality of delivering towering
quality mobile services. With mobile networks forecast
to reach almost 1 zettabyte by the year 2015, the ASR
9000 series is able to meet the rising needs of the increasing
bandwidth, and the more than 15 billion network devices
that will be reached through mobile networks by 2015.
As the world advances technologically with ipads, tablets,
and smartphones, the popularity of these devices increases,
and so do the device capabilities. Network administrators
are using the mobile network in different, new, and exhilarating
ways with new applications. Network providers will need
to give their both business clients and residential clients
customized, personalized, and localized services to meet
the expectations of devices that encompass new technologies.

The Cisco ASR 9010 is a 10-slot, modularized, aggregation
services router. According to the Cisco Visual Networking
Index (VNI), within the coming 4 years, mobile internet
IP traffic is supposed to increase 26 times greater than
now, which comes to over 3.6 exabytes of data per month.
The Cisco ASR 9010 is prepared to perform at these sizable
data amounts. Also, it is reported that the majority of
the IP traffic will be mobile video being streamed in
2015. The challenge is faced by network administrators
at the access and edge layers of the OSI model, nearest
to the customer or subscriber. The ASR 9000 series aggregation
services routers has already been installed in over 500
facilities.
Service providers can also take advantage of the ASR
9000 series feature of Cisco’s nV technology, or
Network Virtualization, to design and implement a 96 terabits
per second integrated network that permits service providers
to abridge operations, while at the same time, enhance
service delivery.

The scalability of the Cisco ASR 9010 has been an enormous
success, assisting network administrators across the globe.
The innovative nV technology, from Cisco, is now brought
to the mobile network via 3 types of ASR 9000 series platforms:
the Cisco ASR 901, the Cisco ASR 903, and the Cisco ASR
9001, which are all carrier class. Low capacity deployments
can benefit from the rich feature set of the Cisco ASR
9000 series.
The dimensions of the Cisco ASR 9010 are:
- Height: 36.75 inches (933.5 millimeters)
- Width: 17.5 inches (444.5 millimeters)
- Depth: (With Doors) – 31.45 inches (798.8 millimeters)
- Depth: (Without Doors) – 28.65 inches (72.72 millimeters)
- Weight: (Bare Chassis) – 191 pounds (86.8 kilograms)
- Weight: (Loaded Chassis) – 375 pounds (170.5 kilograms)
The airflow of the Cisco ASR 9010 is from front-to-back
with up to 6.4 terabits per second of chassis switching.
The router is rack mountable with 19 inches with adapters
for up to 21 and 23 inches. The RSP (Route Switch Processor)
has built-in service-intelligent and traffic-prioritization
ability. The Dual Fan Trays that come with the Cisco ASR
9010 contain twelve (12) high-efficiency fans per tray.
That comes to 24 cooling fans total on the Cisco ASR 9010.
Also, the Fan Trays take advantage of varying speeds on
the fan trays for optimal thermal operation. With support
of up to 6 power modules (AC or DC) for future planning
and bandwidth, the Cisco ASR 9010 provides multiple power
module types, but the blending of AC and DC modules is
not supported, and will cause malfunction. DC (Direct
Current) modules cannot be mixed or matched with AC (Alternating
Current) ASR 9000 Series modules.

In summary, the Cisco ASR 9010 provides service providers
with an easy, flexible, simplified system for high-speed
business or high-speed residential mobile connectivity
to transport superior mobile and cloud network computing
services. With Cisco’s nV technology, OSI layers
are merged so that network administrators can take full
advantage of the flexibility of the Cisco ASR 9010 router.
These enhancements to the Cisco ASR 9000 series routers
will lower overall costs to service providers, increase
speed and bandwidth, while simplifying the stream of cloud
services to end user consumers, both business and residential
equally.
